How to transfer your Dell hardware warranty or get Dell hardware serviced or replaced

Find your service tag numbers

To transfer the warranty, you must provide Dell with the service tag numbers for your hardware. Dell uses these numbers to provide service and warranty on the hardware. The tag numbers are linked directly to the components and the date purchased for the system.

  • For file servers, the service tag number can be found on the right side and back panel of the servers.
  • For workstations, the service tag number can be found on the front of the system (under the USB ports) and on the back panel.

How to transfer your warranty

To transfer your warranty to Dell Inc., please visit the following web site and follow the directions on screen.

The hardware warranty usually takes 30 days to transfer, so it is important that you initiate the transfer of the warranty as soon as possible.


Whom do I contact to service or replace my Dell hardware?

  • If you purchased your Dell hardware directly from Dell, contact Dell directly.
  • If you purchased your Dell hardware from PLATO Learning, Inc. and you transferred your Dell warranty, contact Dell Gold Support:
